Colour Enviroments (3)

 

After using the other light box but the outcome not working as well as the other experiments with light that I have done. I then decided to do it again but this time I used a larger and brighter light box, I also was able to get some acetate to cover the light box with.  

 

 

 

I then started using a small desk lamp, which I then changed the colour of the light by putting the acetate on top of it. I think that using the desk lamp has worked well as is different to the other light sources that I have used as it focuses most of the light in one area.

 

 

LED's and Ballons

 

When looking around shop for small lights me and Aimee came across some balloons with LED lights inside them, so we decided to experiment with the balloons inside a dark space. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

After using the balloons I decided to take the lights out of them and experiment with the lights to see how I could use lights. So I put the lights inside a plastic cup that was filled with polystyrene, I think that the way the polystyrene cast shadows with the light works really well. 

 

Weather and Enviroment

After looking at Olafur Eliasson I decided to do my own work based on the weather, I went back to using the projector on the white board as much more light comes off it and makes the effect more intense.

I first used a large red circle on an orange back ground to represent the sun.

I then used just a plain grey background to represent a cloudy 

I wasn't particularly happy with the outcome of the first two where I used just plain colours as the grey the colour that comes off it makes it look as if it was just a normal light. whereas the on based on  the sun was not as intense as the plain colour ones that I created.

I then decided to do the same thing but instead I used pictures of the sun and a grey sky. I think that these work a little better as the colour with the picture increases the effect that it has on the room as there is a visual reference.



Olafur Eliasson - Weather Project

Olafur Eliasson is a Danish-Icelandic artist, he is know for creating large scale installations that use elemental materials such as light, temperature, water etc. which he uses to enhance the viewers experience.

  

The weather project was installed at the London's Tate Modern in 2003 as part of the popular Unilever Series.

The installation filled the open space of the gallery's Turbine Hall. Eliasson used humidifiers to create a fine mist in the air via a mixture of sugar and water, as well as a circular disc made up of hundreds of monochromic lamps which radiated yellow light. The ceiling of the hall was covered with a huge mirror, in which visitors could see themselves as tiny black shadows against a mass of orange light. Many visitors responded to this exhibition by lying on their backs and waving their hands and legs. Open for six months, the work reportedly attracted two million visitors, many of whom were repeat visitors.

Colour Enviroments (2)

After doing my previous experiments using coloured light in an environment I decided to try and create the same or a similar effect but using different materials and techniques. I did this to see how using the different materials could effect the feeling of the room. I started using a light box then covering with tissue paper to change the colour of the light.

 

 

I don't think that using the light box worked as well as using the projector for the white board as the light wasn't as bright so the colour did not fill the room as much. I then started using light filters for cameras to see how it would look if I used coloured plastic. 

 

 

I think that using the filters worked better despite the amount there is, as the colour is more intense.
